Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative has a variety of programs for students, teachers and home schoolers.
Of note is the Youth Tour essay contest, a program in place since the late 1950s for high school juniors.
The top two winning students earn a trip to Washington, D.C., to visit historical sites in the nation's capitol and meet their Members of Congress. The two Platte-Clay area students join nearly 1,500 students from other rural electric co-ops.
The theme has tended to teach students about the cooperative form of business, of late the theme has been focused on learning about using energy wisely, part of Platte-Clay's energy management activities.
